"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." - Aldous Huxley
The numerous Screen printing veterans that hold themselves up as "Gurus" of our industry have written some bizarre and even amusing things on the subject of AM versus FM. One even stated that it was just a matter of opinion as to which was superior. Some compared Screenprint Separator to FM CMYK printing, which is a completely different separation system. But saying that it is just a matter of personal taste as to which is best, well? To this we say "WHAT?"...Surely since we are talking about a printing process, all that is required to compare, would be a simple visual comparison between the two methods in action. You don't need to be an industry expert to "see" the difference. Look at the magnified section of an image of a spider below (Original print was 1.5 inches across the legs) and decide for yourself, using photographic evidence of the difference between AM and FM for screen printers.

Original section of a much larger image was 1.5 inches across.

These are real photographs of the same image printed on the same mesh count, one with AM halftone dots the other with FM square dots using Screenprint Separator.

No this is not a geek with a dime taped to his chin - this is a screen print on pelon demonstrating SPS and it's high resolution capabilities.
Try this with a half tone.
